Villa Ama is situated just outside the
attractive town of Piedimonte Etneo, conveniently located
on the road that leads to Mount Etna in one direction and the sea in the
other. Skiing is available
on Mount Etna, half an hour away. Boutique spa treatments are available in Linguaglossa and several excellent trattorie and wine tasting estates are located in the nearby hill towns of Etna. Situated about 20 minutes from the villa, the historic resort of Taormina offers more sophisticated dining and nightlife options, as well as international music and film festivals in the summer months. The 18-hole golf course, Il Picciolo,
is approximately 30 minutes from Villa Ama, and tennis and riding
are also available in the vicinity. The motorway can be reached in around 8 minutes and Catania airport is
approximately 40 minutes away, connecting to most major European cities.
For smaller parties, two floors
only (of three floors) can be rented. For larger groups, an extra single bed can be added to a study, taking
the total capacity of the house to eleven, and a cot is also available. Children and pets are welcome, although due care should be taken.
Visitors who have enjoyed reading the
classic novel The Leopard may be interested in
tours of sites in Sicily connected to the book
and its author, Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa.
Visits can also be organized to sites of cultural interest that attest to Sicily's extraordinarily diverse heritage: Sicilian baroque, Arab-Norman Palermo, Greek temples, Roman mosaics, museums and churches with works by Caravaggio, Antonello da Messina, Giacomo Serpotta.
